For every £8 you pay into the account, the government adds £2. That is 20% of the bill, up to £500 every 3 months for each child (£2,000 a year), or £1,000 every 3 months (£4,000 a year) if your child is disabled. The table spreads that limit evenly over each month.
You can usually get it if you work, each parent earns at least £203.36 a week (aged 21 or over) and neither expects to earn over £100,000 a year. Your child must be 11 or younger (16 if disabled). You cannot get it at the same time as Universal Credit or childcare vouchers. Apply on GOV.UK.
Nursery list and inspection outcomes from Ofsted's register of childcare providers, as at 30 June 2026.
Eligibility rules are the government’s (childcarechoices.gov.uk). Whether a nursery offers the funded hours, and what it charges for meals and consumables, is the nursery’s decision; ask for its funded-hours terms in writing.
